Filzip

As it provides support for a long list of archive file types, you can use this application to extract the contents of ZIP, RAR, CAB, JAR and other archive types. You can also use the application to create archives of your own. In just a few steps you can create an encrypted, password protected archive with the files of your choice inside it.

The Filzip installation file weighs in at just 1.3MB. Run this file and a setup wizard will ask you to choose one of several supported languages and pick between a Standard and Custom Installation. The Standard one will install the Filzip main files and the English, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese language files. When you launch the application for the first time, it will invite you to register for free and pick the archives you want to associate with Filzip.

There’s nothing difficult about Filzip’s interface. The archive you open is displayed in the pane to the left, its contents are displayed in the pane to the right, buttons for various tasks the application can perform are displayed above these two panes.

As mentioned above, you can use Filzip to open archives – a large number of archive types. You can do this from the application’s interface by hitting the Open button, or by simply double clicking on an archive (this works only if the archive type is associated with Filzip). You can also use Filzip to create archives. You can do this from the application’s interface by hitting the New button, or by right clicking a file/folder and selecting Filzip from the context menu. Security oriented users will appreciate that archives can be encrypted and password protected.

Filzip is freeware. You won’t have to part with your money to use the application.

With the free Filzip application, you can extract the contents of archives and you can easily create your own archives. Use it to have access to archived data and to save disk space by archiving your data.
